I am gobsmacked! My debut steampunk novel Cyrus Darian and the Technomicron was shortlisted for the Victorian Steampunk Society's inaugural Steampunk Novel of the year award. The winner was announced at the Weekend at the Asylum, Europe's biggest and best gatherings of steampunks.
I was up against Gail Carriger and two novels by Jonathan Green, so I was very much the outsider.
To my delight and astonishment, Cyrus Darian won ' by a clear margin.'
This means the absolute world to me. The book was written in a creative surge, the result of my love affair and obsession with the Steampunk aesthetic and splendid community. To have the book loved and endorsed by the actual community itself is wonderful beyond words. Thank you all so much.
It turned out to be a very special weekend for my naughty boy, a painting entitled The Alchemist, Cyrus Darian by Vincent Shaw-Morton won the 2D art exhibition prize at the Asylum.
I also had the pleasure of launching the second in the series, Cyrus Darian and the Ghastly Horde at the event, attended by at least 2000 steampunks.
Thank you, Ray x
That's wonderful! Congratulations!
Thank you....so kind xxx
Congratulation on your win. Those are wonderdul circumstances for a book launch. If the second book does as well, you might want to invest in a larger mantle.
