Permalink Reply by Cass Morris on February 19, 2012 at 7:13am I know Boneshaker and the entire series have gotten a lot of positive hype in the community, but honestly, I was considerably underwhelmed. I went in really wanting to like it, but it just did not deliver for me. I know a lot of others feel differently, though, so it depends a lot on personal taste and what you're looking for in a steampunk novel. If you want more detailed thoughts, I reviewed it on my book blog a while back.

I really enjoyed Boneshaker. It's not a life-changing novel or anything, but it's a fun adventure story and Priest has a real way with characters and stories.
Permalink Reply by Caitlin McColl on March 10, 2012 at 5:13pm I enjoyed the story - it was fun and the characters were interesting - but like Jeff, I would've liked more on the alternate history side of things.
I have to say that I thought Boneshaker was definitely the best by far of the 3 books - that seemed to have really not much connection at all to Boneshaker - which i would've thought if they're a trilogy? so that was quite disappointing. On its own though, it's a decent book - not the best (I prefer Gail Carriger's stuff) but not bad :)
