SWAG Book Club for steampunk fans to find our books

The idea made me wonder if a niche book club like this could be set up through a group like SWAG. If enough members of the group were publishing new content throughout the year for subscribers/members of the book club to receive a new steampunk related story/novella or novel every month (either for free or for discounted prices) it could be the sort of thing people would love to join.

 

Thought on this? Is there something like this out there that any of you know about?

I would be fun, huh? And it seems like the future of the biz is headed this way. As ebooks blossom, niche readers will be looking for places to help them sort through the dreck for the books they enjoy/want to read. Steampunk fans are a perfect niche sort of thing. It seems like if they trusted a group like SWAG to produce quality content (always the sticky part) then signing up for a club would be a no-brainer.

 

Anyone else out there with thought?

I would definitely be interested.  It sounds like a really cool idea; I've thought about trying to get my stuff into book clubs, but haven't seen how to get in one one. 

 

On pragmatic end of things, I'd have to OK any kind of discount through my publisher, but they're pretty cool with promotional ideas of all stripes.  I've presently got two SteamPunk novellas out, and plan on putting out at least one novel a year in that series for the next few years.

Maybe the next step is to spread the idea around SWAG and see what sort of support it would have and find out more about how such a collaborative effort would work.

Yes, this would be fun! I only have my novel so far (the hard copy should be out in June; need to format the MS so it's e-book friendly), and I'd be happy to make that a freebie one month.

I found another example the other day that focused on mysteries. www.criminalelement.com
But other than some ads, I can't see how they make any money. Good content though.
