Hi, I'm an Italian architect and illustrator interested in Steampunk.
I'm working on a project about a steampunk grahic novel in three volumes, watercolored and focused on steam-machinery and architecture, to present to French publishers.
I asked to a cartoonist friend to get in touch with his literary agent in France. She said I "start bad: Steampunk in France has gone out."
Despite what the literary agent thinks, in France there are many steampunker: Frenchsteampunk, the largest Web group has more than 9000 followers.
Moreover, I believe Steampunk is not a Fashion: it's a Culture.
Anyway, doesn't matter how many potential readers there are, but the tastes of the editors.
On the other hand, I could submit my project to an American publisher - I like this idea - but I should reboot the comic, because a French comic format is quite different from an American format.
Someone has suggested to me the self-publishing, but I know that is for the novels and I'm not interested in web-comics (even if, I respect them).
What would you do? Thank you so much.
