A less "super-science" feel than mainstream Steampunk, though set in the Victorian era, it focuses nostalgically on icons like Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Jack the Ripper and Sherlock Holmes. eg. The Gaslight Grimoire, The Secrets of the Lazarus Cl

Comment by Marna Bernice Moore on January 5, 2011 at 5:49pm Hello All,
I am heading up to our local Steampunk bookstore called Off the Beaten Path books. I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations for Gaslamp/Gaslight books written by contemporary authors.
I have Leanna Renee Hieber's books but was hoping some of you might have some other suggestions.
Thanks!
Comment by Tony Pollard on August 2, 2011 at 5:32am Is it still considered Gaslight romance if the bond between two people is a huge part of the plot but there's no sex at all? One of my stories in my coming release is based on The Nutcracker, and the other is The Love Story of Jacob Marley and Ebenezer Scrooge. Both are fantasy stories, one with a lot of magic and the other dealing with the spiritual realm & ghosts. If it wouldn't be considered romance, is there such a thing as *just* Gaslight without Romance (or Paranormal, as I feel like that's more Horror, and these aren't horror stories -- or am I wrong about Paranormal being Horror?) attatched to it?
Comment by Francesco Calvano on September 23, 2011 at 8:24am I'm very excited to announce that my first novel, The Volcano Lady: vol. 1, is set to release November 10th. It is the first in a series of adventures, with a flare of Steampunk and romance, and a salute to Jules Verne.
Part history, part makebelieve.
My blog is www.volcanolady.wordpress.com and I would to have you join me there. If you are on Facebook, please come join me over on my page: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/The-Volcano-Lady-by-TE-MacArthur/.... I would adore your company.
Ciao!
