I used Corel Draw to create a design for a project I plan to build, using brass parts from K&S Engineering (in hobby stores), some lamp parts and other odds and ends. That way I can plan it out and see how it might look before buying parts and committing time to building. I find it's better to work things out before I start cutting and drilling. This is tied to a writing project of mine.
