A. Stuart Williams replied to Lia Keyes's discussion HISTORICAL ACCURACY IN STEAMPUNK?
"Depends on whether you want to write Hard Steampunk, Fantasy Steampunk or Supernatural Steampunk, doesn't it?   My current series of short stories I would define as Hard Steampunk, in that they depend very much on "What if?"…"

Gravship Turbinia - and Science Fiction Freedom's Steampunk Special

Dear Friends, May I draw to your attention my new story 'Gravship Turbinia', which has just been published in Science Fiction Freedom #5, a 54-page Steampunk Special? 'Gravship Turbinia' is based on real events and people, and on real technology (with one somewhat controversial exception :o).It is an adventure story of the old school (think "Biggles goes Steampunk"), with a real-life aviation hero (albeit relocated in time from the 1920s to the 1890s). But the whole premise is underpinned by…See More

Introduce yourself!
I'm a writer, historian and photographer, working full-time in local history and living in that part of England which inspired Tolkien's Mordor!

I've previously written mostly non-fiction magazine articles on history, computing, and photography. I have written a local history column for my local newspaper for nearly 11 years. Also two booklets and a book on aspects of local history.

I'm a newcomer to writing fiction, though I've always wanted to be a science fiction writer, and I'm now specialising in the steampunk and science fiction genres, with an occasional leaning towards H.P. Lovecraft. I hope to make this a full-time occupation eventually.

My new steampunk story, 'Gravship Turbinia', is published in Science Fiction Freedom #5: http://sffezine.blogspot.com
What do you hope to find at The Steampunk Writers & Artists Guild?
Good networking with like-minded folk, good advice from more experienced writers and others, and good fellowship with good people.
