Anna Chen said… I hate to disappoint you, but Chen is actually my husbands surname. He is the "real" Chinese, I'm about as Swedish as you can get. But it's true that I speak Chinese (mandarin) and I have translated some 20+ novels into Swedish over the years. I never tried writing myself until one of my friends inspired me to participate in NaNoWriMo. I didn't finish, but I ended up with about one quarter of a novel - and discovered that it's fun to write!
My "novel" is based on a true story, about the Chinese reformer/visionary Kang Youwei, who actually lived in Stockholm for a few years in the early 20th century, but the rest is pure fiction.
I read some of your comments in discussions on race/colonialism in steampunk, and I agree with you - I try to avoid falling into those traps myself!

Anna Chen said… Hi Jaymee, thanks for finding me on here. Did you get to see much of the show? We're still buzzing here. Over 200 people turned up on a dark winter's night so we're delighted. Pix now up on my website.
