Jon Decker replied to Ray Dean's discussion July Month Challenge in the group STEAMPUNK BLOGGERS
"I'm not familiar with the challenge, but if you need topical ideas here are my suggestions: 1. Highlight a Steampunk author (or musician, designer, tinker)- there are several here. 2. Write a synopsis of a 19th century celebrity (explorer,…"

"You posted a link to your blog on the SWAG blog, which is fine if it's accompanied by an informative or interesting post, but it was all by its own-some. :)"

"I'm not certain what you're referring to as I have only entered one posting here and it was quite long, however I'll try to be as helpful as I can be in the future. Have a great week."

Jon Decker replied to Ray Dean's discussion What kinds of blog posts would interest readers/visitors? in the group STEAMPUNK BLOGGERS
"I am currently publishing a Featured Creative (art, music, writing, makery) article at least once a month and may continue to expand that as the summer progresses. All of the a FC articles thus far have been of reasonably well known names in the…"

Where to Start

Having noticed that there is not a topic started here yet, let me be the first to propose one.Perhaps for the sake of a pastime on this site we could start building a semi-generic steampunk world that we all could use as a construct for future stories. It might be a good resource for new writers looking to start into a steampunk-ish story right away without the hassle of creating the rules for their own world.Anyone else game?If so, just add on to the thread and cross-check it before posting…See More

Introduce yourself!
I'm a bit of a generalist in art and literature and have recently re-invigorated my love for steampunk that I lost somewhere in the nineties. The new batch of writers and fans are fun to hang with, and I hope to see you around. Cheers.
What do you hope to find at The Steampunk Writers & Artists Guild?
Constructive criticism and helpful tips from people who know what they're doing is probably the most basic of things I'm looking to find here on SWAG, instead of the pedestrian swill we all get from the rest of the internet.
How did you hear about us?

The Secret Notebook of Michael Faraday, my second novel in the Airship Flamel Advenstures Series is now available!

The book is a prequel to my first novel To Rule the Skies, although I think of it more as just coming first chronologically.  It follows the main character from my previous novel, Nicodemus Boffin, from his boyhood to about a decade before the events in To Rule the Skies. The synopsis:Nicodemus Boffin, a uncommonly clever boy…See More
