"Interesting post, Michelle. I think the term Steampunk Adjacent could be applied to quite a lot of material. For example, many people are describing the Robert Downey Jr. incarnation of Sherlock Holmes as Steampunk; but much as I love the film, I…"

What is a Steampunk Adjacent Novel?

I have been involved in the Steampunk movement for the past three years and when friends find out I have a newly released book, they immediately ask if it is a Steampunk novel.  I have to reluctantly sigh and say, “No, but I consider it to be ‘Steampunk adjacent.’” Now I must confess my own definition of what I consider a…See More

Introduce yourself!
I am the author of six historical novels and historical mysteries set in what I call the "Victorian West."
Though the last two of my novels, THE SECOND GLASS OF ABSINTHE and SEANCE IN SEPIA (2011) deal with the occult, I have never written fantasy and am not very conversant in the genre. I am very curious and constantly looking for new ways to express myself.
I am currently working on an alt. history novel set (as always) in Victorian America
I blog at: www.thevictorianwest.com
Stop by and say hello...
What do you hope to find at The Steampunk Writers & Artists Guild?
I want to meet other Steampunk authors, to learn, share, and network. I think it is exciting to watch a new genre of literature grow and develop.

"The Con" --an Evening of Steamphunk

The Jekyll and Hyde of Writing

Writing and rewriting are two sides of the same coin but each takes a different kind of mindset to accomplish. Most folks think of writing when they imagine what writers do; scribbling creative characters, scenes; oozing creativity onto the page into the wee hours of the night. Beginning writers dive into…See More
