The Monitor, the Union's entry into the Civil War arms race.

An eye-witness account of the events on December 29, 1862, tells of the harrowing efforts in the middle of a storm. Just nine months after her epic battle with the Merrimac, the Monitor left port in tow after the Rhode Island.

Jenny Lind - Victorian Personage

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 11:11am 0 Comments

Swedish soprano, Jenny Lind, was a sensation in America. When tickets to her concerts and appearances were sold there were stories of ungentlemanly scuffles and upset. In 1850, when she arrived in New York on the ship 'The Atlantic,' there was an estimated 30,000+ in the crowd on the pier. The ensuing crush of the crowd included bruises and blood.

She greeted…

It is quite the place. I have enjoyed the dialogue tremendously. It looks from your profile pic that you may be into the more Western style steampunk... That's my personal favorite anywho.

Dustpunk? Never heard that one. I'm working on a series of dieselpunk westerns at the moment - Mexican revolution/WWI sort of time period. I'll have to look into the dustpunk thing. What sort of stuff are you working on?

I am to the stage of looking for some beta readers for my novel coming out this summer. It is a weird western, dieselpunk so I thought you might be interested. What I really need is very honest feedback on whether it is ready for publication or not and what still needs to be tweaked. I posted more in a forum: http://steampunkwriters.ning.com/forum/topics/need-beta-readers-for

No worries. I thought you were a weird west fan. The book is more west and less weird. If you are looking for a read that would be great, but I don't want you to feel obligated. I would probably be jumping back in for the rewrite in a couple of weeks, so I would need notes by then. You can email me at hachebrown(at)gmail.com if you want me to send it to you. Let me know if you want a pdf or an epub.

I am halfway through another rewrite using Beta feedback. I'll try to get you a file today of the first half and send it off to you. I would love some feedback on the current form. I am really hoping that it works well now. Then I'll just ship it out to a proof editor and be ready to go.
I'll send you the first half in a .pdf. and then I should have the second half ready by the end of this next week. If you want .epub let me know, but most people have been wanting .pdf. Thanks!

That would be a wonderful post for the blog! Thank you. If you leave the ones that got added today there for a day or two and then add yours, that would be perfect. Just click on the Blog tab in the menu bar at the top of the page and follow instructions. It comes to me for approval and then it appears on the front page. Cheers!
