"Also some fantastic facial hair :) I'm kind of torn deciding how I want to initially release my novel, vis a vis self-publish or traditionally publish.  Thankfully, I'm still a ways from that point, so I have some time to research and…"

"Amazon is a very opaque company in many ways. For example, do you know how many Kindles are out there? No? You're not alone. Amazon doesn't release that kind of information. I am not an expert at reading corporate balance sheets when it…"

Greetings All!

Hello everyone,I wanted to introduce myself very briefly as a new member.  My name is Sean Burnside and I'm an aspiring new author.  I am not -however- a young author by any means.  I postpone my youthful dreams as a storytelling due to a series of compromises and have only now, with the aid ans support of my wonderful spouse, rekindled my desire to publish.I am in the process of completing my first novel and entering into a preliminary cycle of editing, re-drafting and then submission to peer…See More

Is Amazon a Friend to Readers (and Writers)?

I thought I'd share this as a frequent topic on these forums is the question of self-publication.  Since amazon can be a very large part of a self-published author's publication plan, I found this debate interesting. The debate was held on NPR's Intelligence Squared, which does a very good job of presenting both sides of an issue.  While I won't discuss the podcast for fear of presenting a bias, the discussion does broach on a number of topics that I found incredibly enlightening: whether…See More

The Secret Notebook of Michael Faraday, my second novel in the Airship Flamel Advenstures Series is now available!

The book is a prequel to my first novel To Rule the Skies, although I think of it more as just coming first chronologically.  It follows the main character from my previous novel, Nicodemus Boffin, from his boyhood to about a decade before the events in To Rule the Skies. The synopsis:Nicodemus Boffin, a uncommonly clever boy…See More
