Cowboys and Aliens... yawn

Was anyone else as disappointed as I was?  The main character's amnesia was better than learning he was a mean jerk.  Harrison Ford's character duplicated the 'jerk quota' and wasn't really a…Continue

Book Trailer

I've begun work on a book trailer.  Mine is a familiar problem; funding.  I'd like to find an artist who wants to showcase some simple artwork.  I'd like some still panels, a slideshow to tell my…Continue

Introduce yourself!
Brain tumor survivor, submarine sailor, writer; my first novel debuts September 1st. My sincerest efforts to write came after I awoke from my coma and realized the importance of making the most whatever life offers. Now I hungrily pursue my passion to tell a tale perchance to sing in the hearts of others as it did mine.
What do you hope to find at The Steampunk Writers & Artists Guild?
I hope to find cohorts, and companions in a solitary craft. I seek fellow writers who understand and appreciate science fiction, steampunk, and the altered history such works embrace. Writers need other writers; to get better and to spread word of their works and of opportunities to meet readers face to face.

Often these fantasies offer an intriguing plot with an underlying message. V for Vendetta warns of a government with too much power and a people controlled by fear.
What’s the allure? We all see small oppressions and miniature tyrannies in our daily lives. Like most fiction, these examples seep into a writer’s mind where the…

Steampunk in Space: Why Not?

Posted on October 20, 2013 at 2:00pm 9 Comments

How hard would it be to cast a crew of five into space in the year 1881? Given technology of the day; impossible. But that’s where questions beget questions and answers breathe life into an adventure.

I grew up, thrilled by science fiction. It offered hope (in the case of Star Trek) or a warning (in most episodes of The Twilight Zone) and an exciting alternative for me, a solitary child with a mild case of Asperger’s…

Eager to Know, Yet Scared to Ask

Posted on September 21, 2013 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

Diversity, a buzzword of the times, means inclusion to me. As a child in the Midwest, inclusion was a given and discrimination never entered my mind. But to be fair, I encountered few people different than myself in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. I wrote an earlier blogpost…
