To me the word League has a lot of established competition. Whether it be the "Justice League", or "The League of Gentlemen" (Extraordinary or not).

Thanks for the welcome, its nice when a community is small enough to be personal. Nice place!

Probably so. The place has a - homey for lack of a better term- feel to it, so it's comfortable enough to talk to random people.

Hi, Lia. Thank you for your welcome.

Regarding me being connected with Luís, yes, we are connected, in the sense that we're both from Portugal and we know eachother for a few years now. Actually, it was he who first published one of my fictions back in 1998, in an old and long extinct "emailzine" of his.

But I'm curious; you met a Portuguese fellow by my name? Both name and surname? If so, that's a hell of a coincidence: it's not at all a common combination around these parts. :)

Wow! That's... well... amazing. There must be less than 10 of us in the whole country, from little kid to old fart. You now know more than a fifth of the whole population of jorgecandeisases. :)

I'm somewhere in between, BTW. In between little kid and old fart, I mean.

Thanks again and yes, this is a fun coincidence. And although in your youth I, too, didn't speak English all that well (in fact even today I write much better than I speak, thanks to that good old Portuguese accent you probably know quite well), I'm pretty sure I'm not "your" Jorge Candeias. Not that fun a coincidence, I'm afraid. Still, fun. :)

The Secret Notebook of Michael Faraday, my second novel in the Airship Flamel Advenstures Series is now available!

The book is a prequel to my first novel To Rule the Skies, although I think of it more as just coming first chronologically.  It follows the main character from my previous novel, Nicodemus Boffin, from his boyhood to about a decade before the events in To Rule the Skies. The synopsis:Nicodemus Boffin, a uncommonly clever boy…See More
