Regarding me being connected with Luís, yes, we are connected, in the sense that we're both from Portugal and we know eachother for a few years now. Actually, it was he who first published one of my fictions back in 1998, in an old and long extinct "emailzine" of his.
But I'm curious; you met a Portuguese fellow by my name? Both name and surname? If so, that's a hell of a coincidence: it's not at all a common combination around these parts. :)
Wow! That's... well... amazing. There must be less than 10 of us in the whole country, from little kid to old fart. You now know more than a fifth of the whole population of jorgecandeisases. :)
I'm somewhere in between, BTW. In between little kid and old fart, I mean.
Thanks again and yes, this is a fun coincidence. And although in your youth I, too, didn't speak English all that well (in fact even today I write much better than I speak, thanks to that good old Portuguese accent you probably know quite well), I'm pretty sure I'm not "your" Jorge Candeias. Not that fun a coincidence, I'm afraid. Still, fun. :)
Thanks for the welcome, Lia. Saw your anthology announcement in the Maass group. I'm not sure I'm up to Shakespeare but will watch with interest.

Thanks Lia
I believe Steampunk has tremendous depth and potential to say many things at a time when "making" and individual initiative is needed. Like any true subculture, there is ethos and a living narrative carried and expanded by those who are drawn to the movement. Steampunk is so much fun but I also believe that it has some unique opportunities for new "voice" that are just starting to happen as the movement is getting discovered by the broader population.
Thanks Lia, it's a pleasure to be here! I'd have replied earlier but my head's been stuck in dragons and plucky heroes being chewed upon by said dragons for a while yet :)
"It varies, and has the full range of Steampunk music in it, from Cabaret to metal.Just FYI, the format is the first two hours is talk with music breaks, and the third hour is music with chat breaks."
Writing and rewriting are two sides of the same coin but each takes a different kind of mindset to accomplish. Most folks think of writing when they imagine what writers do; scribbling creative characters, scenes; oozing creativity onto the page into the wee hours of the night. "Yes Gwen, that can make it challenging. But if this seems to be your cup of tea but you don't want to interrupt your beauty rest, you can always download it and listen to it afterwards. :)"

Lia, so your father is Portuguese? Good to know. It's a small world indeed :)

Cheers for now, Kevin
Thanks Lia :)
I really look forward to getting deeper into the steampunk stuffs. I've got plenty of steampunk artwork & stories brewing in my head...
