I'm another writer.
However, I eschew the common Victorian tropes and have created a different world.
The main city is Sar-Chona, it sits on a long isthmus between an eastern and western continent. To the south is a large ocean - the salt-sea, to the north a desert of sand so vast and deep, it is the sand-sea.
While Sar-Chona is a Human city, the world also has another sentient race - Devorians. These are a reptilian people from an as yet undefined continent on the planet.
So far I have a completed 12k word noir story, a couple of 1k stories and a couple of 4-6k range stories completed, as well as 4 or 5 story ideas that are yet to be developed.
I look forward to meeting people.
How do the Devorians get on with the humans, Clive?
Good question Philip.
There is certainly a working level between them as far as Sar-Chona goes. Devorians have an ambassador in the city, but there is also a large number of them who live and work in the city (including in the cities police force).
Of course, individual Humans may have personal bias, but then they're probably the types of people who would be worried by different colored skin on a human.
At this point, there hasn't been a massive focus on them, though there is one in my longest Sar-Chona story (Salt on the Sand Sea) which is currently being critiqued.
